My Gratitude- a slightly awkward reflection or Abuse of Parentheses

In general I’m grateful for lots of stuff. But nothing more (I don’t think) than the fact that I exploded once I hit puberty. (By exploded I mean I gained a TON of weight and started to grow massive hips… and whatnot.)
I’m sure my grade 3 through 8 self is kinda pissed at me for saying that, but I think in one million ways I’m better for it. I learned at a really young age that being popular or well-liked isn’t the be all and end all.

I’m pleased that starting when I was young I didn’t search for my happiness in other people. It all came from home base. I think that helped me out boat loads in terms of dealing with “the now”. This freaky liminal space of being a kinda/sorta kid and a kinda/sorta adult in my very own way. (Not quite ready to make the leap yet).

So here’s to turnin’ awkward (and I’d go as far as to say kinda ugly) when I first began my journey to “Womandom”. (Or as I like to call it my road to saucy).

Character building- beauty can be damaging- being kinda blarg can really give you perspective yadda yadda yadda…

That is the best early 90s photo. I’d say you were already quite sassy there. And really, you don’t look that awkward! On the flipside, I didn’t develop until I was about 15 therefore didn’t wear a bra until gr. 10. Did the boys used to pull your back strap?

Aww no! haha that is the flip side! but yeah- the early development always results in pulled bra straps, tact-less jokes and weirdness because starting to look like a lady so young isn’t really… graceful? something. 9 year olds don’t really appreciate voluptua.
