Resolutions 2009

At the beginning of the year I made the following resolutions:

1- write a second draft of my NaNo novel (see: NaNoWriMo.org) and participate in NaNo again this year
2- finish my website before Spring
3- create a small comic about Dan and I’s trip to Paris
4- get my G2 this time around- failin’ is fo’ fools … which sadly, I am.
5- get a laptop to facilitate writing
6- read a book a week- 52 books by the end of the year
7- read more comics, I feel like I didn’t read enough this year
8- eat healthier, more fish … less cookies and ice cream
9- knit more- learn how to do something other than a scarf
10- continue with my mad skillz as a chef. Continue to climb the baking mountain and move into more serious things.
11- walk minimum 30 min a day
12- plant the garden of dreams. OF DREAMS.

As it stands right now things look a lil’ more like this:
1- write a second draft of my NaNo novel and participate in NaNo again this year
2- finish my website before Spring
3- create a small comic about Dan and I’s trip to Paris- I’m writing the script tonight
4- get my G2 this time around- failin’ is fo’ fools … which sadly, I am.- Test #2 is on Friday *knocks on wood*
5- get a laptop to facilitate writing
6- read a book a week- 52 books by the end of the year- I’m on book #8 soon to be #9
7- read more comics, I feel like I didn’t read enough this year
8- eat healthier, more fish … less cookies and ice cream – This one will be ongoing but I’ve been eating more fish and a ton of broccoli.
9- knit more- learn how to do something other than a scarf
10- continue with my mad skillz as a chef. Continue to climb the baking mountain and move into more serious things.- Again, ongoing- but I’ve already made a lemon cheesecake, carrot cake and citrus baked pollock.
11- walk minimum 30 min a day- I’ve not only started to walk more but I’m doing weights for me arms.
12- plant the garden of dreams. OF DREAMS.

I think this is the first time I have ever attacked my resolutions so aggressively. Mind you, I think this is one of the first years that I have managed to keep my resolutions realistic. It’s hard not to get carried away and then decide that you’re essentially going to try and solve world hunger in a year’s time.
I think this list is do-able and I also think I’ll feel pretty spiffy with the results if I do get through everything.

I also wanted to mention the Coachella Music Fest. I went in 2006 and it blew my mind. Not only was the line up fierce, but the drive across the United States was thrilling. It is my one true “once in a lifetime” experience- never to be re-created.

This year The Lineup looks pretty decent.
Some of my highlights:

April 17th:
Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band
Crystal Castles
Girl Talk
Los Campesinos!
M. Ward
Paul McCartney
The Black Keys
We Are Scientists

April 18th:
Band Of Horses

Fleet Foxes
MSTRKRFT
The Killers
Thievery Corporation

April 19th:
Friendly Fires
